Soccer, WC and soccer | Klaveness dismisses Denmark’s Fifa threats: – Not a theme
ULLEVAAL (Nettavisen): The chairman of the Danish Football Association (DBU) aroused great reactions when he revealed on Wednesday that Denmark is considering withdrawing from Fifa and that they want a dialogue with others about it.
The statement came after Fifa threatened to punish the nations if they used the rainbow colored captain’s armbands that nine European countries had agreed to use.
Norway’s football president, Lise Klaveness, tells Nettavisen that she was in talks with DBU after the statement. She refutes chairman Jesper Møller’s statements.
– Denmark has no talks about leaving Fifa. They said so at the press conference, but when we spoke to them afterwards it became clear that they don’t have it, says Klaveness to Nettavisen.

– An impossible situation
The DBU leader’s statements came just after Fifa announced that they would punish the nations that used the captain’s armbands. Klaveness thinks the Danish management rushed the statement, and expressed that they mean something they do not.
– I think it was an expression that they were put in an impossible situation and that they do not trust the current Fifa management, says Klaveness, and adds:
– They say that they are not ruling anything out because they are frustrated, but they are not considering withdrawing from Fifa.
The DBU leader stated that he wanted a dialogue with the other Nordic countries about taking drastic action, but Klaveness is clear that it is out of the question for Norway. Nor will she focus on how they want to influence the current regime.
– In Norway, we are discussing how to influence Fifa, where we are members now. This is what I have been elected for and that we must be active in this, says a clear Klaveness, before she concludes succinctly:
– It is a completely theoretical exercise to talk about withdrawing from Fifa, it is not even a theme!

Damn Fifa
Fifa caused great reactions when, days before Denmark’s opening match against Tunisia, it threatened to punish the nations that planned to use rainbow colored captain’s armbands. That made DBU chairman Jesper Møller see red.
– We are in an extraordinary situation now. I’m not just disappointed. I am angry. I have never experienced anything like this, said Møller on Wednesday.
Møller was clear that he does not support Gianni Infantino, and announces that this is an opinion shared by the other Nordic countries.
– It is not a decision we have made yet. We have been discussing this under Nordic auspices since August.
– Has DBU considered leaving Fifa?
– I have thought about it. I imagine that there could be challenges if Denmark opts out alone. But let’s see if we can’t have a dialogue about these things, he says.
Klaveness: – Does not want the presidency
For NTB, Lise Klaveness says on Friday that it is out of the question for Gianni Infantino to take over as president of the International Football Association (FIFA).
Klaveness has been one of the biggest voices against Fifa and Infantino for the role they have had during the disputed World Cup in Qatar. On Thursday, the Green Party called for Klaveness to run as a candidate, but she does not want that.
– I have more than enough to concentrate on the task I am doing. It’s not a theme for me at all. I have never been concerned with position. That’s not how the logic inside me thinks, says Klaveness to NTB.
Klaveness recently stayed in the World Cup country. During the trip, she made several harsh criticisms of the International Football Association and President Infantino. She says, however, that it is therefore not relevant to go into battle to become the new president of the association.
– It is not a theme. It is important for me to say that it should not be the headline now. This is the matter we are talking about. Klaveness continues.
