Presented the didactic notebook “At nightfall. Lucerne of the State Museum of San Marino”
The didactic notebook “At nightfall was presented at the State Museum a week ago. Lucerne of the State Museum of San Marino”, published by Paola Bigi and Cristina Giovagnetti at the end of the homonymous exhibition.
To “shed light” on the history of the State Museum and on the history of the San Marino area, it may be useful to know a small object: the oil lamp, an instrument used since prehistoric times, from the Upper Paleolithic, precisely to shed light.
The didactic notebook “At nightfall. Lucerne of the State Museum of San Marino”, aimed at teachers and interested parties, takes up the exhibition itinerary of the temporary exhibition and proposes itself as an agile tool for getting to know first of all two important San Marino excavation contexts, that of the “Tanaccia” cult area, on the ridge of Monte Titano, and that of the Domagnano-Paradiso site exhibited in the first two rooms of the State Museum.
But the State Museum doesn’t just keep oil lamps found in the territory of San Marino. In fact, the Museum conserves a substantial nucleus of oil lamps from the entire Mediterranean basin. The donated oil lamps, exhibited in the Donation Archeology Section, in the temporary exhibition and in the didactic booklet, have been articulated in a path that deals with three main themes: the technological evolution of the oil lamp, its distribution by geographic area in the Mediterranean basin and the symbolic aspects (in particular divinities and myths) that decorate the lamps.
In the didactic notebook “At nightfall. Lucerne of the State Museum of San Marino” the educational paths are also presented, with the relative cards, which allow to organize a sort of “hunt for the lamp” during which the boys and girls become an active part of the path of knowledge of the Museum .
