«The disappearance of Rossella Corazzin together with the trail of dead composes a mosaic that can be entirely traced back to the vein of the Monster»
from Corriere Fiorentino editors
«There are many points still unclear, we must continue» the work done. Thus the M5s deputy Stefania Ascari, member of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commissionin a press conference on the report approved on the end of the last legislature by the same Commission on “Disappearance and presumed death of Rossella Corazzinthe events that occurred on Lake Trasimeno in October 1985 and the crimes of couples in the province of Florence between 1974 and 1985″ from which it emerges the shadow of the Narducci case and the Monster of Florence in the disappearance of the 17-year-old girl from San Vito al Tagliamento on 21 August 1975 in Tai di Cadore (Belluno) while on holiday with her parents. The Commission is also divided from statements made by Angelo Izzo, one of the “monsters of Circeo”, according to which the story would be intertwined with the mystery of the monster of Florence and the girl was kidnapped in Veneto, tortured and killed on Trasimeno in Umbria. Izzo was deemed unreliable so I decided that the investigating judge of Perugia dismissed the case, but the Anti-Mafia Commission listened to him again, evaluating in the report that from his story “references emerge that have not been denied” and “provided that even with regard to the reconstruction of the alleged crime in damage to Rossella Corazzin, one certainly cannot give him credit without external evidence worthy of the name, the facts described still have the characteristic of having had, after many years, some plausible explanation, even if, at least for now, totally unanswerable”. Ascari, who proposed the report in the last legislature, underlined that the disappearance of Rossella, together with a “trail of dead” composes “a tragic mosaic that can be connected entirely to the vein of the Monster”. The former prosecutor Giuliano Mignini himself, who was a consultant to the Commission, underlined that “novelties” emerged during the work. «This investigation, interrupted due to the early end of the legislature, needs to be deepened and recovery and I hope that happens,” he said.
“The Commission’s work must continue”
Mara Corazzin, cousin of the 17-year-old from San Vito al Tagliamento, also intervened on the issue, speaking at the press conference: «I ask in a loud voice that the work of the Anti-Mafia Commission can continue because what he produced is important. I will try, depending on the work done, to ask for the investigation to be reopened ». Rossella’s disappearance, he said, “It’s an open wound that I’ve been carrying for a lifetime. I had lost hope, after 47 years and several filings, that one could still speak of Rossella as a terrible and unsolved case of disappearance and, I add, of murder».
