If the government does not give money to the Biodóm, Budapest will take its hands off the land
Ambrus Kiss, Deputy Mayor of Budapest, said that for InfoRadiothat there are no substantive negotiations between the capital and the government a Biodomeabout. If the government does not provide money for the development of the building, Budapest will separate the plot and hand over the keys to the government. “They can do whatever they want with it, since the capital’s money and decision are not behind the project,” said the deputy mayor.
Kiss Ambrus also stated that Budapest does not want the development, it is enough to protect and heat the building – and it is forced to heat it, because as the project supervisor Anett Bősz told InfoRádio earlier: due to lack of heating, the roof of the half-finished building will collapse. “It was built with a technology that requires a suitable, normal, constant internal temperature. Without this, the air bubbles on the top of the structure – the white triangles that can be seen from the outside – sooner or later succumb to the weather,” Ambrus Kiss said, and added: “I hope that sooner or later the government will decide what it wants to do with this with land and its half-built institution. We’re still ready to give it to them, and then they can finish it.”
