LUXEMBOURG – Luxembourg international midfielder Olivier Thill, currently recovering, claims to have been excluded from the national team because he did not use the selection’s physiotherapist. Version denied by coach Luc Holtz.
“I received an SMS from Luc Holtz saying that I was suspended from team A until further notice”, declared Olivier Thill on Friday, in the columns of our colleagues from the Tageblatt. Victim in May of a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the knee, the midfielder of Eyüpspor (Turkish D2) affirms that this sidelining is linked to his choice to entrust his rehabilitation to personal physiotherapist, Yannick Zenner, and not to the medical staff of the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF).
“After my operation, I was told that I had a choice. However, I was also clearly told that I would no longer receive help if I decided to seek treatment from another doctor,” he adds. A version denied by national coach Luc Holtz, questioned by RTL. “Oli was suspended from team A. Not because he was seen by another physio but for disrespecting the staff of team A,” he said.
A situation that risked straining relations between Luc Holtz and the former playmaker of Progrès Niederkorn, whose two other brothers, Sébastien and Vincent, were summoned to the last Roud Léiwen gathering. Olivier Thill, who is finishing his convalescence, will return to his club, leader of the Turkish second division, in two weeks, but his return to the selection seems compromised for the moment…
