Venice, for the first time the Gran Ballo delle Debutante lands in the Lagoon on 8 December
VENICE – As in a dream, ladies and knights, immersed in a fairytale atmosphere, will dance a Venice, theater for the first time of the Gran Ballo Delle Debuttanti. The next December 8thin fact the Great School of San Giovanni Evangelista will host the society debut of the new bridesmaids and their gentlemen. The Gran Ballo delle Debutante, one of the most prestigious events in the world, which has experienced various editions over the centuries, including the most famous in Vienna, arrives in Venice thanks to the intuition of maestro Silvia Casarin Rizzolo, who in the past directed the event in other cities: «I am happy to bring this famous and loved format to my city, said Casarin Rizzolo. It will be two dream days in the most magical city in the world».
THE FORMAT
For couples, made up of boys and girls between 16 and 25 years old, the magic will begin on December 7th when they will meet again in general rehearsals with the live orchestra. «For the first time, a debutante ball welcomes couples of all kinds, underlined Silvia Casarin Rizzolo, without any distinction and of any nationality. Venice has always been an open, modern and libertarian city». Inspired by the Vienna Opera Ball, the event will bring together the most prestigious Venetian artistic and entrepreneurial realities, who will collaborate in the staging of this fairytale evening. These include the Rubelli Foundation, which will donate the precious Marco Polo damask fabric to adorn the rooms of the Scuola Grande, and the precious fabric with which Stefano Nicolao’s Atelier will create the stage costumes of the teacher Silvia Casarin Rizzolo. The protagonists will also be two iconic places in the city: the Hotel Danieli, which will host the coronation of the debutantes, and the Gran Caffè Quadri which, after their fashion show in Piazza San Marco, will offer couples a hot chocolate.
THE PARADE IN THE SQUARE
After the parade in the square, the girls will cross the Grand Canal in a gondola to the vault of the Scuola Grande where the Red Carpet will be set up which will accompany them towards the noble floor of the ancient Venetian palace, to dance to the notes of the most famous waltzes and polkas in the world . The ChamberOrchestra4U will perform the pieces, directed by Maestro Silvia Casarin Rizzolo, which will open the Ball with the famous drum roll of the Radetzky March, with which the procession of Debutantes will begin, who will make their triumphal entrance. As tradition dictates, the evening will continue with the performance of the dancers of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, excellence in dance, who will perform the opening Cameo in the rooms adorned with the works of artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The Gala Dinner, offered in the hall on the ground floor, will be prepared by Tino Vettorello, official chef of the Venice Film Festival, who will offer a gourmet menu, designed taking inspiration from the fairy-tale atmospheres of the Ball, while the Magnolia Winery will be entrusted with the selection of wines for the evening. Exceptional godmother of the event Patty Pravo, protagonist with the interpretation of her dying of two of her greatest successes: Tell me you don’t want and Pazza idea. From the hands of Patty Pravo, the title of king and queen of the waltz will be awarded to the couple who most distinguished themselves from the others. The winners will then perform on the notes of the waltz taken from the film The Leopard by Luchino Visconti, a tribute to the Venice Film Festival. Guest of honor was Prince Marco Andrea Doria. The midnight quadrille will mark the end of the Grand Ball of Debutantes.
