The wine salon has a new champion. Riesling Vlasský from Mikulov’s Mikrosvín succeeded
/PHOTO/ The absolute champion of the Wine Salon 2023 was Riesling vlašský wine, Flower line series, 2021 late harvest from the Mikrosvín Mikulov winery. This was announced on Thursday by representatives of the organizing National Wine Center. The wine worked its way to the title through a three-round evaluation system.

This wine comes from the Morava wine region in the Mikulovská sub-region. “The winning Riesling Wallachian has its origins in three vineyards. A third is from the Bergrus track in Perná, a third is from Březí from the Ořechové hory and a third from the Mikulov vineyard Za Cihelnou,” enumerated the oenologist of the successful winery Zbyněk Žiška.
The intention, according to him, was to achieve the typical aromatic expression of dried herbs and a combination of ripe fruit. “The taste of the wine is based on a very strong citrus taste and a juicy mineral aftertaste, so typical for our Wallachians,” added Žiška.

The winning Riesling Vlasský succeeded in the competition of 2,643 wines, which is a record number. In the final evaluation, expert committees evaluated 400 finalists who emerged from the previous rounds. “During its existence, the Wine Salon has built a privileged position among domestic wine competitions. For winemakers it is an appreciation of their work and for the customer a guarantee of the highest quality. And that it all really works together is proven by the interest in participation among individual winemakers, who had the largest number of customers this year in history, and by the interest from those who not only appreciated the wines, but also traveled to the tasting exhibition of the Wine Salon in Valtice for them,” commented the director National Wine Center Pavel Krška.
As Deník Rovnost has already reported, attendance at the Wine Salon exhibition is returning to pre-covid times. “He even attacks record numbers,” noted Krška.
