Energy sobriety: why the city of Toulouse does not want to give up its ice rink
The municipality of Toulouse has decided not to give up its ice rink located on the Place du Capitole, despite a call for energy sobriety this winter.
A perfectly assumed choice. While the French have been asked to show energy sobriety this winter, the municipality of Toulouse is thinking of its inhabitants.
As a result, the Christmas market ice rink installed on the Place du Capitole since 2015 will come out of the ground this weekend.
The mayor of Toulouse assured our colleagues of The Dispatch taking into account the enthusiasm of Toulouse residents for this activity, while studying in detail the environmental impact of the ice rink.
A “respectful” product
The town hall of Toulouse paid particular attention to the supplier’s eco-responsible guarantees.
Thus, the Capitol is in a position to affirm that “the average energy cost of this ice rink is 2Kwh/m2, or 10 euro cents per skater”.
To magnify the line, “it consumes the energy of a year of use of a fridge-freezer”.
In addition, the city has guaranteed the “environmentally friendly and without harmful consequences” aspect of this ice rink.
In all, nearly 20,000 people are expected for this Christmas market in the pink city.
