And what about Prague in the winter months?
The mother of cities is known for its cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, cultural performances, museums and, of course, beer. This is what makes Prague Prague. So what to do in Prague at Christmas? And where to take your significant other?
1. Try ice skating in the historic Old Town
Not only a great meeting, but also a bit of exercise in today’s sedentary lifestyle. There are many ice rinks around Prague in December and it is up to you which one you choose. In addition, the ice rinks are beautifully lit and surrounded by historical buildings of Prague, so they have their own unique atmosphere.
Probably the most famous ice rink is the one in Ovocné trhu. This is a free skating rink that is open 22 hours a day. No problem if you don’t have skates. You can rent them on the spot. Ice rinks can be found, for example, at the Žižkov Tower, Černý Most or on the Letenská Plain.
2. Christmas markets
Christmas in Prague wouldn’t be Christmas without markets. And the markets on the Old Town Square are one of the most beautiful and certainly rival markets in Germany or Austria. No place can compare to them. They are open from December 2nd to January 6th and there is simply no better place to experience the Christmas spirit. 3. Go to the Nutcracker ballet
Prague has a long musical history, and when you visit it in December, you cannot miss an evening full of breathtaking orchestras, choirs and dance performances. Try classics such as Swan Lake or the Nutcracker ballet.
