Toulouse. The rave gives them nightmares
“We will not support another night of this kind where until four in the morning, we could not sleep because of a rave party”, protests Claude Marquié, vice-president of the collective of the district of Ponts-Jumeaux and resident of rue Daydé. The cause of this sleepless night a few days ago? A rave party started around 9 p.m. and ended at 4 a.m., which took place in the former premises of the New Parisian press messaging services (NMPP), located rue Ferdinand Lassalle, closed since mid-2020. “Since the place is regularly squatted, continues Claude Marquié. People will come and. It does not concern us, it is up to the owner to react. On the other hand, not sleeping a whole night, that concerns us”.
Problem for residents: this clandestine techno gathering is organized at the last moment on social networks and without immediate intervention from the police, the organizers remain unknown.
“Avoiding Another Night”
About six families live in this street near the disused building. “I don’t know if some residents have called Hello Toulouse. In any case, the situation has not improved for all that. I am personally in a bad location: I am directly on the street side and I receive sounds directly under my windows. D “Others are lucky enough to be on the garden side. They were obviously less embarrassed.”
What these residents fear is that this situation will repeat itself: “ If this situation were to start again, we all unanimously agree to call the police immediately and avoid such a night”. What these inhabitants especially deplore is the casualness displayed by these young people, completely ignorant of living together and everyone: “For them, all of this is normal,” notes another resident anonymously. They’re partying. Too bad for those who work and want to sleep”.
