Thursday the presentation in Verona
The new book by Luca Zaia is out today in bookstores and online stores. Edited by Marsilio, “Pessimists don’t make fortunes” recounts, with the candor and frankness typical of its author, through memories the momentum of a country in which “the strength to look to the future with optimism has never been lacking, even in the worst moments. That gear has never broken which, from generation to generation, has transmitted us the desire to respond to any change, even the most unexpected, by committing ourselves to building something new». In order to evaluate together the premises and consequences of the choices we have before us, he retraces some symbolic thresholds which in collective and individual history have marked as many decisive turning points for the growth of Italy ».
And again, as we read in the synopsis: «From the Veneto in the 1960s to widespread well-being, from the comparison with the television imagery to the advent of mass consumption, from the false myth of an uncontaminated environment to wars whose atrocities arrive live on our screens, is measured against thorny themes and prejudices. He obtains indications and ideas for defining what still remains to be done on issues which, today more than ever, concern us all closely: ecological conversion, migration, universal rights, effective and not only stated equality, the new forms of poverty, the relationship with young people, the real engine of rebirth, up to the goal of responsible autonomy”.
With the concreteness of the administrator and beyond any ideological barrier, Luca Zaia shows that, if changes inevitably bring us face to face with unknown problems, we must however know how to seize extraordinary opportunities as well. In the testimony of those who never stop believing in the future, an invitation to exercise freedom of choice, not giving in to pessimism, “the last attitude our community needs in the face of the challenges that await it and which are just as tough to those in which it is already engaged”.
