The 6th edition of Green Friday opposes Black Friday in Toulouse
For the sixth year in a row, the network of second-hand household appliance stores Want to organize a “Green Friday”, to take the opposite view to “Black Friday” which will take place this Friday, November 25 in Toulouse as in the rest of France.
“Consume less, consume better”. This is the objective of the 6th edition of “Green Friday”an initiative launched in 2017 by the network of second-hand household appliances stores Urge, in order to take the opposite view of the “Black Friday” organized this Friday, November 25 in Toulouse, as everywhere in France. According to the Green Friday collective, which today brings together 560 brands nationwide, “Black Friday” has “become the symbol of consumerism. In 2021, in France alone, 748 million euros in turnover were made during the event”, thanks to the “incentive and misleading” promotions offered by the stores.
Workshops, visits and diagnostics of faulty devices for Green Friday
“Green Friday presents itself as an alternative to compulsive consumption, to unnecessary purchases dictated by promotional logic, without making consumers feel guilty, but by empowering them. Beyond the denunciation of the misdeeds of Black Friday, Green Friday wishes to allow citizens to change their consumption patterns in the long term”, explains the collective made up of the Envie brands, Alternundi, dream act, Emmausand REFER. Companies or associations that join the movement have an obligation to work in favor of more responsible consumption. And this, all year round. Then on the day of the event, organized on Friday November 25 this year, the Green Friday collective asks the partner brands to not do not promote, but to donate 10% of the turnover of this day to committed associations.
To mark the event, this Friday, November 25, the Envie store in Toulouse is offering small gesture awareness workshops to save energy on a daily basis. Participants could also visit the workshops to understand the process of repairing and selling used appliances. Finally, it is possible to bring in faulty devices to benefit from a free repair diagnosis.
