Near Toulouse, an 83-year-old woman accuses her housekeeper of stealing €100,000 from her
Nicole, 83, accuses her son of housekeeper of theft. According to this retiree, the housekeeper allegedly stole jewelry, handbags and savings hidden in the house. The damage would amount to €100,000. However, the investigation was closed without further action.
“I feel stupid and a bit guilty.” Nicole, 83, lives with her 95-year-old married son in a plush pavilion in the heights of Balma, northeast of Toulouse.
Abused according to her by her housekeeper, she tells how part of her property, for a value of 100000€, disappeared after the passage of this woman. “You never know how you will grow old. Tomorrow I can lose my head, describes the dressed to the nines octogenarian. So I wanted to find someone who was not too old to take care of us. I hired a service company in January 2021. She had to do two hours per week”.
Retirees ask that housekeepers not come to work too early in the morning or at mealtimes. “The first time, she arrives at 8 am. We jump out of bed, continues Nicole. She tells us that she is coming to clean up. We were not going to make her leave. I explain to her where the products are and I show her the house. She tells me that we only have to have our breakfast and that she will do the room”.
After two hours, the employee leaves. “She came three times, each time at 8 a.m. The last time she left at 9 a.m. crying, saying her husband was dead.” Nicole will regularly withdraw a few hundred euros to build up a stocking. “Because we don’t know what the future will bring. When I wanted to go and put more money in the hiding place, a pocket in the middle of my panties and bras in my dressing room, I was under the shock. I didn’t find anything. It was the shock. I said to myself that, if she had stolen that, she had stolen something else”.
Gradually, Nicole discovers that her closet has been stripped of valuables. “Four Chanel bags, my mother’s crocodile bag that I’ve had since I was 25, my communion bracelet, a box with earrings, long dresses and even a jacket… there’s a hundred thousand euros…”
The couple had noticed nothing. “I think she’s a professional. I understood after the comment she had made. She always came with a very large scarf to do the ‘packaging’. I didn’t see anything”. The retiree filed a complaint. “The address she gave to Tournefeuille was false. We couldn’t find her. My complaint ended up being dismissed.”
