Monaco officially recognizes Jehovah’s Witnesses
The very Catholic Principality of Monaco (Catholicism is the state religion there) has decided to definitively recognize the association of Jehovah’s witnesses. The announcement appeared in the Official Journal on November 18th. Thus, this Christian movement becomes an official cult. Cédric Galès, president of the Monegasque association, welcomes this decision: ” He is reassured to note that freedom of religion is effective in Monaco. All people attached to fundamental freedoms, and there are many of them here, thrive on it. »
Not possible in France
This decision is not insignificant, because the Witnesses are present on the rock for 50 years and their request was a veritable Stations of the Cross. In France, the thing is not possible because since the law of 1905 relating to the separation of the Churches and the State, no religion is “official”. The only recent advance for Jehovah’s Witnesses in France; the release of the list of sects in 2002.
