Marseille: the North L2 Rocade makes room for bicycles and pedestrians
The Aix-Marseille Provence Metropolis ends development of public spaces on the L2 north ring road. This 17-month project started on November 15 and should be completed in March 2024. This operation “ is part of the extension of the developments already carried out on the L2 north ring road and which will allow the continuation of the work of networking our territory while relying on the passage of the future BHLS B4 “, explains the metropolis.
This last phase focuses on Arnavon Avenue in the 14e district of Marseille, between the A7 motorway bridge and the Sainte-Marthe roundabout. Concretely, it is a question of creating anew secure and tree-lined cycle pathof the widened north and south sidewalks to pay better pedestrian circulation and improve lighting and light signals for traffic.
” It is the culmination of a long operation carried out since the opening of the L2 and which will conclude with the end of the works around Boulevard Arnavon in 2024. This project will improve the daily lives of the inhabitants of Marseille, in particular for those residents in the northern sector of the city. With the extension of the tramway and the upcoming arrival of the BHLS, the entire public service offer in its neighborhoods will be renewed. », declares Martine Vassal, the president of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.
