Croatian charter carrier ETF Airways, specializing in ACMI flights, received provisional approval for flights to the United States from the Ministry of Transport. ETF Airways applied for a license on September 10. In its decision, the US Department of Transportation stated that the airline can now engage in the following:
The Department observed: “With respect to petitioner’s request for exemption power, we find that the grant of this power, as conditional, is in the public interest. We also believe that the applicant is financially and operationally qualified to perform the authorized services, and that it is substantially owned and effectively controlled in a manner consistent with the provisions of the US-EU Agreement. We also find that the authority sought by the applicant is covered by the US-EU Agreement. Furthermore, we note that the applicant has the appropriate license of his home country to perform the proposed services. In addition, the Federal Aviation Administration has informed us that it knows of no reason why we should act unfavorably on the applicant’s request”.
Those who want to object to the order have 21 days to submit an objection. In case there are no objections, the Department will make its provisional decision final. As previously reported, ETF Airways plans to add two more aircraft to its fleet next year for a total of five and has recently established two carriers in the French overseas departments of Reunion and Martinique, with the aim of establishing a permanent presence in the territories, one of which is in the Indian Ocean. and others in the Caribbean.
