23,062 cases in Athens and 5,024 in Thessaloniki

Sugar Mizzy November 22, 2022

In Attica outbreaks of coronavirus was 23,062 while in Thessaloniki 5024.

In detail, the cases in Attica were:

Eastern Attica: 2909

Northern Sector: 3923

Western Sector: 3051

Central Sector: 6352

South Sector: 2900

Islands: 245

Piraeus: 2842

Western Attica: 840

Incidence map of the last two weeks (Iso Week) of confirmed cases of COVID-19, based on the place of permanent residence, or temporary residence (for temporary residents).

Distribution of cases in the reference week: In the Table 1 the total number of cases is presented, h incidence per 100,000 population as well as the weekly change in confirmed cases of COVID-19 per regional unit in the reference week compared to the previous week.

Screenshot 13 11

In the week of November 14 to 20, 2022, an upward trend was observed compared to week 07 until 13 November 2022, in the means weekly viral load of SARS–CoV–2 at urban effluent in three out of eight (3/8) regions where were checked by the National Wastewater Epidemiology Network (EDEL) of EODY, downward trends in four from eight (4/8) regions of EDL and a stabilizing trend was observed in one (1/8) region.

Pure upward trend in the weekly average load of urban wastewater despitewas observed in Patras (+70%) and Agios Nikolaos (+37%), while the increase was marginal in Attica (+22%). Downward trends were observed at Chania (–58%), in Heraklion (–55%) and in Thessaloniki (–31%), while marginal was the drop in urban viral loadsewage plant in Ioannina (–11%). Stabilization was observed in Corfu (+5%).

Figure 8: Geographical display of viral load levels in municipal wastewater and trend of change during week 14–20/11/2022.
Characterization of viral load levels (color code) has been derived from the processing of the histories data of each city separately from June 1, 2021 onwards. Specifically, the measurements of each area are classified in ascending order (from lowest to highest) and then grouped into 5 categories (0–20%, 20.1–40%, 40.1– 60%, 60.1–80%, 80.1–100%).

The color scale from light to intense shade (from pink/beige to deep red/brown) shows, for each city/districtoh, its levels SARS–CoV–2 in municipal sewage in the last week in relation with the historical data of the city/region (from 01/06/2021 onwards).

For example, when a city/region is marked with pink/beige color (0–20%), the levels of viral phorof municipal wastewater in the measurements of the last week belong in the lowest 20% of its total measurements, while when marked with deep red/brown (80.1– 100%), the levels of the viral load in urban wastewater in the measurements of the last eweek belong to the highest 20% of its total measurements. The arrows inside the circles show the weekly trend Percentage change

mEODY’s national Genomic Business Network for its mutations SARS–CoV–2

Included in this report are the results of analysis from the National Genomics Network Virus surveillance SARS–CoV–2, which operates under the coordination of EODY. An additional 465 samples are included in this report which have been randomized or targeted and in the period 20 October 2022 to 15 November 2022.

Of all ta samples isolated strain Omicron (B.1.1.529). Of these 83 (17.8%) were identified as BA.2, 9 (1.9%) as BA.4 and 373 (80.2%) as BA.5. Of the BA.2 strains, 46 (55.4%) were identified as sub–variation of BA.2.75 and 29 (34.9%) as XBB, while from the strainsof BA.5, 9 (2.4%) as sub–variant BQ.1 and 36 (9.7%) as BQ.1.1.

In Diagram 10 the temporal evolution of the relative frequency of occurrence is illustrated basic sub–variations of it strain Omicron up to a week 44 of 2022, while they are given additional provisional data for weeks 45–46.

In Table 3 is depictedper week, the percentage of all random samples sequenced
sampling for thefour sub–variations that currently present epidemiological interesting.

Regarding sub–variants of the Omicron strain, the geographical distribution of cases reference Unit for the 4 weeks pre of the closing date covered by this report (15 November 2022) presented fthe Table 4.
