Two steps from theLyon OperaPlace Louis Pradel will host Unicode 3D animation this year as part of the Festival of Lights 2022.
With Unicode 3D, the artist Fred Sapey-Triomphe offers huge panels that will be arranged parallel to a depth of 4 meters. Each of them will be illuminated by thousands of LEDs encapsulated in ping-pong balls. This animation plays on transparency with different layers of the image which are superimposed in three dimensions. The result: a pointillist creation in space with a play on colors, spectacular chromatic ratios. The title of the animation refers to Unicode, a computer standard that allows text exchanges in different languages around the world.
UNICODE光3D place Louis Pradel in Lyon: a strong tribute to writing systems
This light and sound composition is therefore a tribute to the writing systems and their communication invented in our contemporary world. Behind this work hides the Parisian Fred Sapey-Triomphe, trained at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris and at the Boulle School. For several years the visual artist has been using light as a material since the first.
A fan of photographs and videos, his works refer to manga, kinetic art and Op Art. His work is exhibited in several galleries and festivals, both in France and abroad.
After Unicode, you can extend the experience two steps with the Grand Mix at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon on the Place des Terreaux.
