Stellantis factory in Mangualde wins the “Made in Portugal 2022” category at the Fleet & Service Awards
The Mangualde Production Center was distinguished on the 17th of November with the “Fleet & Service Award – Made in Portugal”, for its appreciation of national production in 2022.
The award was received by Christian Teixeira, director of this car production unit, during the annual “Revista Automóvel” awards ceremony.
This award was given in a very special year for the company, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Inaugurated in 1962, the Stellantis Center in Mangualde – the oldest automobile production plant in the country – is a pillar of Portuguese industrial activity. This year, it reached the milestone of one and a half million products produced since its foundation, having produced 24 different models.
It currently ensures the production of light commercial vehicles and passenger versions Peugeot Partner/Rifter, Citroën Berlingo/Berlingo Van, Opel Combo/Combo Cargo and, since last October, also the Fiat Doblò, which are destined for the domestic market and International.
Embodying the Group’s objectives of excellence, the important Production Center in Mangualde has industrial processes. The infrastructure has not only invested successively in the modernization and updating of its facilities and production processes, but has increasingly underlined its environmental commitment and to the reduction of emissions, in addition to a strong commitment to innovation.
“Every day, on each vehicle we produce, we put the “Made in Portugal” stamp on it. This means that, in addition to manufacturing a final product made in Portugal, one third of the parts we assemble in our vehicle are produced in this country by our suppliers. All of this, with the pride of contributing to the economy and industrial development at a national level.”, said factory director Christian Teixeira.
