Prague trams are a concept. Few means of transport are as woven into the heart of the city as tram transport in Prague. For over 130 years, it has been an efficient and constantly developing system, which in terms of scope and number of connections is one of the largest in the world. It needs constant care and maintenance.

That is why we are now issuing a public contract for the delivery of new trams. We want to buy 40 of them with the possibility of buying another 160 so that it is possible not only to serve the developing tram network, but also to replace part of the old high-floor and now inadequate T3 cars. In addition, we will try to get a subsidy from the National Recovery Plan for their purchase.

The new trams will be low-floor, air-conditioned, with sufficient capacity, and we can find several criteria for their selection that aim to make the tram as friendly as possible for the next decade.

The new trams will be part of the cycle from 2025. The public contract is set up so that not only the price offered will play a role, but also energy consumption, environmental costs and the length of the warranty period.

In terms of buses, we have the youngest vehicle fleet ever at the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague. It’s a different story with trams. I can say with certainty that the new Prague trams will be barrier-free, comfortable, air-conditioned and quiet.
