Putin: Russia achieves 100.8% meat self-sufficiency (November 21, 2022)
In accordance with the recommendations of food security, the level of self-sufficiency in meat products in Russia should be at least 85%, and at present it has already reached 100.8%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the development of the livestock and fish industry, domestic breeding and genetics . At the same time, the head of state needs to work.
“We have a level of self-sufficiency in meat, in meat products, the threshold value in accordance with the principles of food security should be at least 85%. And this year we have already achieved 100.8%, and this is certainly an indicative, good result. For milk and dairy products – 84.3%, although our problem was slightly higher, under 90%. But if we talk about the fact that we have very good allied relations with Belarus in all areas, then this part, as part of the consideration, is abruptly closed by supplies from Belarus, I don’t see anything special here, ”the Kremlin press service quotes Putin.
The President also called the level of self-sufficiency in livestock breeding products. At the end of 2022, 64% is predicted for dairy cattle (cattle), 98.2% for beef cattle, 84.6% for pigs, and 98.5% for sheep.
“This means that, obviously, there is, but there is also something to work on further, to restore and build up rural potential, to actively use the mechanisms of the federal scientific and technical program for the development of agriculture here,” Putin stressed.
In addition, the president touched upon the issue of exporting meat products – in the expected year, he expects 550,000 tons worth $1.5 billion. On behalf of the head of state, Chinese poultry and beef markets have already been opened for Russia, and it is also good with Vietnam there is a trade in poultry, beef and pork. “We will continue to work,” Putin assured.
