Lithuanian Foreign Minister on Kaliningrad transit: “Russia is engaged in constant misinformation” – Kaliningrad News
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis believes that Russia is constantly engaged in disinformation on the issue of transit to the Kaliningrad region. About this on Monday, November 21, writes “Delphi”.
“All the adopted decisions and their packages, together with the local authorities, were valid and publicly announced both by the Union and the Lithuanian institutions. Russia is constantly engaged in disinformation, propaganda and information manipulation. This is not a new phenomenon and not a surprise, therefore, the disseminated impressive information should be very critical and not amenable to manipulation, ”Landsbergisa said to the Lithuanian opposition, which said that in the summer Russia had tested the spaces in the issue of Kaliningrad transit.
The official also asked why, before the decision was taken into effect, proper preparations had not been made to control the risks of public space. Landsbergis responded that Lithuanian public space and media, “unlike Russia or Belarus”, are provided freely and independently.
Answering the question whether the provision on EU Council sanctions regarding transit in Kaliningrad was not selectively interpreted, he rejects the possibility of the Minister of Electoral Pathways and claims that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complied with EU legislation in the matter of voting.
Earlier in November, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin declared about attempts by unfriendly countries to blockade the Kaliningrad region.
