Depression Denise will not affect Portugal, but rain, wind and snow will live!
Last weekend the west zonal flow reasserted itself in Portugal continental thanks to descent in latitude of the polar jetwhat is reflected in circulation of depressions much closer of the Iberian territory.
The most adverse weather conditions in this panorama should occur between Tuesday (22) and Thursday (24), although this Monday (21) has already been closely monitored. In the coming days, not only will the wind, rain and sea swell be newsas well as, to a lesser extent, the risk of thunderstorms and possible snowfall🇧🇷
This Monday the Spanish Meteorological Service (AEMET) named the fourth high-impact depression of the 2022/2023 season, Storm Denise🇧🇷 However, Denise will in no way influence the weather in mainland Portugal.
Even so, it is anticipated that worsening weather conditions in our country in the coming days, as a result of fronts associated with depressions that circulate through the Atlantic Ocean and the consequent wind intensification🇧🇷
More Atlantic fronts will abundantly water our country until Thursday
Several Atlantic depressions, these more distant from our geography, will leave a new “batch” of fronts that will pour more rain in mainland Portugal in the coming days🇧🇷 For Tuesday (22) the arrival of a new warm front is expected that will reactivate the protection on the Atlantic coast, and also a little for the rest of the country.
The day will be mild and very windy! In the last hours of Tuesday (22) another front is expected to enter, this time coldwhat if will stroll for a good part of our territory (mainly North and Center) during a large part of Wednesday (23).
Even so, part of this rain could overcome the orographic barrier that accepted the Montejunto-Estrela mountain system and water part of the Alentejo territory, and perhaps Algarve🇧🇷
ONE more abundant and persistent precipitation in areas exposed to the west wind, mainly in the northwest of the country and in the Serra da Estrela areawhich roughly comprises the districts of Viana do Castelo🇧🇷 braga🇧🇷 harbor🇧🇷 Aveiropoints of Real Village and Viseu and also, guard and White Castle🇧🇷 As gusts, on the coast it can reach up to 75 km/h and in the highlands up to 90 km/h!
On Thursday (24) more rain will fall from north to south of mainland Portugal because of the arrival of another front🇧🇷 The wind continues to blow from the southwest, although with less intensity🇧🇷 The thermal environment remains mildbut with the air temperature values to experience ascents and descents thanks to the passages of the successive fronts.
This Monday (21) it snowed again in Serra da Estrela and in parts of the mountains of the extreme North, and, for the rest of the week, only tomorrow Tuesday (22), snow may fall again from 1400 meters above sea level🇧🇷

End of zonal flow from Friday
With a considerable degree of confidence, everything indicates that a Vigorous anticyclonic ridge will emerge across western Europe, positioning itself over the Iberian Peninsula in the final stretch of this weekspecifically, from Friday (25).
With this scenario, it is envisaged Friday (25), Saturday (26) and Sunday (27) much more stable meteorologically, with virtually no precipitation across mainland Portugal, with sometimes cloudy skies, but also good periods of sunshine. In the interior valleys, fog or mist may come. The daytime temperature should rise acoustically, while the night temperature will drop sharply, bringing the cold characteristic of the time of year.
