14 families are no longer eligible
They are constantly increasing requests for social housing by people in difficulty; 32 those still outstanding. And the tourism secretariat, which is also responsible for cooperation, has taken steps to give them a concrete response in the short term. So much so that in recent months they have been 14 the families subject to as many resolutions to forfeit social housing, of which half concern holders of old conventions, therefore families who have resided in the state property for many years. The others, on the other hand, concern temporary leases of two-year duration.
From the annual verification of the Residential Construction Management Commission in fact it emerged that these families had exceeded for two consecutive years the limit, indicated by law, of per capita income which corresponds to 15,493 euros, calculated on the basis of tax returns net of liabilities. One case, however, concerns the unstable home of the accommodation. Among the requirements to be able to access social housing instead, demonstrate a per capita income lower than €11,115.
Whoever received the forfeiture provisions was granted a period of six months for the return of the accommodation. Should this provision not be respected, the Commission will transmit the positions to the State Attorney’s Office.
Over the years there have been several “popular” properties purchased by the tenants who, previously, paid – according to law 110 of 1994 – a rent modulated on the family income. Since 2018, temporarily assigned properties can no longer be purchased by the private individual. Option still possible, however, for the ordinary assignmentsbut provided that the income satisfies the aforementioned requirements.
The Secretary Federico Pedini Amati speaks of a “sensitive issue”. “It is clear that measures of this type are not implemented lightly. However, there is a law that defines the requirements for accessing social housing policies. And – he declares – the law must be respected. Especially in the light of the growing number of requests for accommodation presented by families with strong economic and social difficulties to whom the State has the obligation to give answers”.
