In an interview, the Portuguese coach recalled the bitter fate of the National Team in 2002
South Korea continues to prepare its debut against Uruguay and, this Monday, Paulo Bento participated in a program on the television channel KBS about the expectations of the Asian team for the World Cup.
Recording his career as a player, the current coach of South Korea highlighted the curiosity of repeating his last game as a member of the National Team. “The defeat against South Korea, in 2002, was my last encounter with the Portugal team. Twenty years after that episode, it seems unbelievable to me to be leading that same team at the World Cup in Qatar”, shot Paulo Bento, referring to if Portugal is defeated by South Korea, in the last game of the group stage of the 2002 World Cup: in 2022, the two teams will meet again on matchday three.
In the same interview, the Portuguese coach also pointed out the “work ethic” as the main virtue of the team where forward Son Heung-min and central Kim Min-jae shone.
