San Marino political formation highlights the characteristics of the new law.

“In the morning session of 18 November 2022 – writes the PDCS -, the Great and General Council approved the draft law”Forms of support for single pregnant women and single-parent families in particularly serious socio-economic situations”, proposed by the councilors of the council group of the San Marino Christian Democratic Party whose institutional process began in March 2021.
This project, which has now become law, arises from the need to add a further piece to the already large mosaic of interventions that our government has implemented in the current legislature
favor of the family, the founding nucleus of our society and, specifically, in favor of pregnant women and single-parent realities who are in a condition of particular hardship
social, economic and psychological.
The result was a legislative system characterized by a important social, family and solidarity value Precisely because of the attention that the institutions, increasingly responsibly, are turning to
weaker and more vulnerable sections of our population, which if in the past could possibly count on the help provided by voluntary associations, from today, at their disposal there is a complete regulation, streamlined and rapid in providing concrete support to all in a short time those who find themselves, even for reasons beyond their control, in a condition of particular hardship.
A support that takes the form of interventions that go beyond the assistance dimension of the approach, in fact providing, right from the certification of the state of pregnancy, the payment of an economic contribution aimed at facing the expenses of the very first necessity, such as the payment of utilities, of part of the rent and in general of all those assets necessary to ensure a dignified life for the family.
In the contemporary the applicant for the disbursement of these benefits can count on the presence of a social worker that in addition to certifying the state of particular difficulty of the person who is faced with a condition of single parenthood, carries out a support and accompaniment activity in carrying out all the steps necessary to obtain the benefit; on the other hand, it is the social worker’s duty to check and monitor every single situation above *u*o to ascertain that the requirements that allow the enjoyment of such aids are not lacking.
The woman or man who bears, exclusively, the educational and economic responsibility of their children will be able to enjoy a preferential lane both for finding a job and for continuing their studies, both dimensions which will allow the acquisition , in the short term, of its own autonomy and economic independence.
With great pride we can note that our project has become law thanks to the unanimity of the Councilors both in the referent Commission and in the Great and General Council,
enjoying great consideration and desire for social and family policies to offer concrete answers especially to the weakest and most vulnerable segments of the population.
Even in our small reality motherhood in recent years is becoming increasingly rare and, consequently, more precious and to ensure that the experience can be lived by every woman
in the condition of greater protection and serenity we considered it essential to set up a legislative system capable of offering safety and protection.
Our party, always animated by high values ​​and principles of protection, social protection and solidarity, keeping faith with what is proposed in its political program, proud of the result obtained with the approval of this bill, applauds the result obtained, always maintaining high attention with the firm will to offer answers and concrete actions to the needs of our population.
