Real Madrid crushes UCAM Murcia (93-57) and Bilbao Basket overwhelms Fuenlabrada (109-82)
Real Madrid, with the rest of the FIBA window, more days to train and adjust things, with several players greatly improving their performance and physical condition, is a very different team from the one that suffered an unseemly defeat in Zaragoza. Only two weeks have passed but the metamorphosis is evident. UCAM Murcia suffered in a big way this Sunday with an anthological beating after a great exhibition by the whites.
From the first minutes Madrid was seen flying and the Murcian team denied the target ring, weak in defense, with many problems defending the direct block, which led them to concede many points from the start, with a 27-9 in minute 10 very worrying for those of Sito Alonso. The whites’ 5 of 7 triples contrasted with UCAM’s 4 of 15 in field goals, which also had five losses.
More of the same in the second quarter, up to a really overwhelming 52-22 halftime. Chus Mateo was able to rotate a lot, something important with the recent losses of Yabusele and Hanga. Causeur reappeared, he was able to lap Williams-Goss a little more, a minute for a Poirier who is getting in shape, also for an Abalde at a very low level the previous month… And also for the young Ndiaye. The game continued to unfold with the Real Madrid advantage moving between 28, the 39 points that were reached in an overwhelming last quarter (84-45, min. 34) or 42 after 91-49 two minutes from the conclusion after a triple de Causeur.
R. Madrid (27+25+19+22): Williams-Goss (2), Musa (14), Deck (-), Cornelie (10), Tavares (10) -starting five-, Llull (8), Hezonja (9), Poirier (19), Ndiaye (1) , Causeur (8) and Abalde (12).
57 – UCAM Murcia (9+13+21+14): Trice (5), Davis (6), Pustovyi (9), Anderson (9) and Rojas (3) -starting five-, Klavzar (0), Bellas (4), Radovic (4), McFadden (0), Sakho (2), Diop (11) and Jelinek (4).
In Bilbao, overwhelming victory also for the locals. After four straight losses for the Bilbao team, a comfortable day against a disappointing Fuenlabrada. Two teams from the lower zone, even in the table, but from the first moment those from Ponsarnau were very scoring and the visitors were strangely weak. After 47-33, there was hardly any improvement in Fuenlabreña and on top of that in the last period the local income skyrocketed with Smith, Hakanson and Kyser as an unstoppable trio.
109 – South Bilbao Basket (24+23+30+32): Hakanson (22), Adam Smith (22), Rabaseda (9), Andersson (2) and Withey (7) -starting five-; Radicevic (4), Francis Alonso (12), Reyes (6), Sulejmanovic (4), Kyser (19), Rosa (2) and Ubal.
82 – Carplus Fuenlabrada (14+19+23+26): Novak (8), Senglin (11), Kromah (8), Juan Fernández (6) and Ristic (12) -starting five-; Hannah (11), Marc Garcia (8), Okouo (18), Eyenga, Macoha, Beirán and Savkov.
