‘Mobile addicts’ tinges Barcelona with humor
Today we can affirm that technological devices occupy a fundamental place in the development of life. The evolution of these tools began with the purpose of making daily activities bearable and easy to execute. However, over time, their functions have expanded to different fields that make them more complete, more necessary and, therefore, cause us to become more dependent on them. And the one who is undoubtedly at the top of the ranking is our beloved and inseparable mobile phone. The plot of the proposal to which we refer below is based on this.
As its name indicates, Addicted to mobile expose a reflection of today’s society, reflecting the way in which people have integrated mobile phones as essential elements within the reach of any individual, regardless of social rank or economic situation in which they are immersed. What began with the mere purpose of providing the axis of communication between sender and receiver, limiting itself only to making calls, has become a multipurpose device capable of offering us access to the network and a messaging system endowed with infinite possibilities, in addition to adding improvements such as the incursion of high definition cameras or the option to see the image of the interlocutor on the screen. In other words: incorporating everything we could wish for.
HUMOR
The show addresses from the humor the way in which the mobile acts almost like an artificial extension of the human arm, a tool to which we dedicate a great number of hours and whose incorrect functionality can affect us in a very notable way. Victims of inertia, we have forgotten what it meant to live away from that screen or, in any case, being less extreme, we ignored the importance of reducing their consumption habits, ignoring the alternative of disengaging ourselves to investigate directly in the environment that surrounds us. Far from making life easy for us, the protagonist demonstrates with his actions that its effectiveness and the use that was improved under our responsibility can even generate the opposite effect.
represented in Spanish throughout their 70 minutes longthe work is performed entirely by borja nicolau, who puts himself in the shoes of a realistic character and who brings close to the limit of common episodes that could well happen to the attendees who are watching him from the public. Crossing the barrier between the stage and the stalls, the monologue allows the audience to feel identified and spend a pleasant evening, while being aware of the truth of the message he transmits.
