Ghana, Portugal’s opponent, signed code of conduct after scolding in 2014
Federation asked the group to have ethics and integrity. In 2014 there was a boycott threat…
All the Ghanaian delegation accompanying to Qatar had to sign a code of conduct by which they must record their behavior while participating in the World Cup. Players, coaches and managers have read and agreed with the rules that are found in the document and that respect individual and collective norms.
“The group is expected to be ethical, respectful, honest, show a very high level of integrity and defend the good name of the Federation and the selection”, could be read in a statement published on the official page of the organism, although without specifying what would be the penalties in case of non-compliance with the protected rules.
It should be remembered that in 2014, on the eve of facing Portugal for the third round of the group stage of the World Cup, the Ghanaians threatened to miss the game, tolerated receiving the promised participation prize in cash from the Federation. The imbroglio ended up being resolved with the president of the organism, John Dramani Mahama, flying to Brazil with 2.2 M€ in a suitcase to distribute among the squad.
