CSP Limoges pays AS Monaco (84-80)
Two days after his victory against Baskonia in Euroleauge, AS Monaco was surprised against CSP Limoges (84-80). This is the second consecutive defeat for the Roca Team in the league, a week after the defeat against Dijon. The matches follow one another and are not alike at Gaston-Médecin.
AS Monaco has just experienced its second defeat in the league against CSP Limoges. A high-intensity match concluded with a victory for the visitors, who found the strength of character necessary to win. Tonight the men of Sasa Obradovic played with fire but this time, the Monegasques burned themselves. And on this day after a national holiday on the Rock, Monaco seemed below its abilities despite the excellent Jaron Blossomgame (18 points, 6/12 in shooting). A performance that masks that of Mike James, who did not score a single point during the match.
Limoges with great fanfare
Tonight, the Roca Team fell on a bone, a team that never gave up. Despite a first quarter mastered 24-20, including 6 points from Yakuba Ouattara behind the line, the Monegasques are only at 39% in shooting, with a timid 7/18. The one who also distinguished himself was Donta Hall, author of a magnificent tomar which made a room still very full for this match react. The match follows its outcome, Limoges remains neck and neck and thanks to Hawkins and Rodriguez, 21 points each in total, there are only two points behind at half-time (44-42 for Monaco).
The too late reaction of the Monegasques
With a three-point lead at the start of the last quarter, Limoges initially suffered repeated attacks from Blossomgame and Donta Hall. But in defense, everyone is doing their part. Hawkins scored no less than 11 points in the last 10 minutes while the Roca Team struggled in the racket. The Monegasques try somehow to react in the last minute, thanks to the three points of Blossomgame and Lloyd to recall at 80-80. But it was too late. Mike James loses the ball and Limoges converts his last two free throws to allow the visitors to win.
The Monegasques are now turning to the reception of Fenerbahçe in the Euroleague this Tuesday at 7 p.m., still at Gaston-Médecin. If they win, Obradovic’s men will take control of the competition. For its part, CSP Limoges will receive Riga in the Champion’s League and will try to snatch its first European success.
