BARCELONA, Nov. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Sunday, coinciding with World Children’s Rights Day, Barcelona City Council inaugurated the sculpture ‘Abraçada’, a symbol of children’s rights and “of the City Council’s commitment to ensure compliance”.
The work, by the author Carme Solé, has been placed in the garden of the Can Deu Civic Center, in the district of Les Corts, as reported by the consistory in a statement.
The Councilor for Children, Youth, the Elderly and People with Disabilities, Joan Ramon Riera, explained that the sculpture is a memory of all children who suffer or have suffered some type of violence.
And he has ensured that professionals in the field work and work committed “to eliminate bad experiences during childhood.”
During this month of November, a new edition of the Children’s Rights Film Series is also celebrated, which this year wants to promote reflection on the needs of children and adolescents to enjoy the public space of the city.
Within the framework of the municipal program for the prevention of sexual violence in childhood and adolescence, the book ‘Vint-i-set dinosaurs’, a children’s novel to break the taboo of child sexual abuse, has been presented.
