The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Andorra, Maria Ubach, addressed gender equality and the role of women at the 18th Summit of La Francophonie Heads of State and Government, in Djerba (Tunisia), which was held this weekend of week.
Ubach has moderated two round tables, one of them focused on the role of women and young people, and has highlighted the work done in Andorra in this area with the entry into force of the Law for the effective application of the right to equal treatment and opportunities and non-discrimination between men and women, informed the Government of Andorra in a statement this Sunday.
He recalled that La Francophonie includes mechanisms to promote the role of women, particularly the ‘La Francophonie avec elles’ fund, and he called on all countries to use them.
The minister moderated another colloquium on digital tools on Saturday, in which “the access difficulties faced by some countries in the French-speaking space” were highlighted.
During the summit, the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, who has held the position since January 2019, was also re-elected, and it has been agreed that the 19th Summit will take place in France in 2024.
