Attention, traffic jams ahead on the roads to Toulouse. On Sunday November 20, 2022, two high-attendance events will be held in the Pink City: the rugby match France-Japan at the Stadium and the concert from Orelsan at Zenith.
As a result, traffic will not necessarily be easy on the roads in Toulouse… Here is some information and advice for a good circular this Sunday!
At the Stadium: more than 30,000 people expected
This is obviously the sporting event of the weekend in Toulouse! Ten months before the Rugby World Cup, the XV of France faces Japan.
Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Stadium, which will be complete for the occasion. More than 30,000 people will therefore flock to the sports arena, which should generate heavy traffic from mid-morning.
“L”Île du Ramier will be prohibited for vehicles that do not have a parking space”, also indicates the prefecture. A word of common sense: use public transport!
How to come to the Stadium?
- Think about relay car parks
To avoid traffic and parking difficulties around the Stadium, consider the park and ride available to you on metro lines A and B, tram T1 and T2. You will also find bike parks there to deposit your bike in complete safety.
Parking is free for Tisséo travellers. Remember to keep your return metro ticket; you will have to validate it to exit the car park.
They are revealed among others:
On metro line A (Balma-Gramont, Argoulets, Jolimont, Arènes and Basso Cambo stations),
On metro line B (Borderouge, La Vache and Ramonville stations),
On tram lines T1 and T2 (Aéroconstellation and Arènes stations).
- The metro and shuttles
A solution seems obvious: the Subway ! Line A takes you to Arènes station where you can take the Stadium shuttle free of charge. Line B takes you to the Saint-Michel – Marcel Langer or Empalot stations located about a 10-minute walk from the Stadium.
In addition, for each match at the Stadium, Tisséo provides you with free shuttles from Arènes station. First departure from the Arena: 2h30 before the match. Last departure from the Arena: 5 minutes before the match. After the match, the return to the Arena is guaranteed for 1 hour.
It is possible to access the Stadium via Line T1 (Croix de Pierre station). The frequency of the lines is reinforced at match times.
Another alternative also exists: the bus!
The express line Lineo 9 [ L’Union / Empalot] allows you to reach the Platanes stop located a 7-minute walk from the Stadium. The lines Lineo 4 [Basso Cambo / Cours Dillon]and Lineo 5 [Portet-Gare SNCF / Emaplot] allows you to reach the Stadium Est stop located about 2 minutes walk from the Stadium.
If you want to come by bike, think about the BikeToulouse ! The Croix de Pierre, Muret Lafage, Muret Boutinon and Récollet stations are close to the Stadium. If you choose to come with your own bike, it is possible to park it near the sports enclosure.
11,000 people at the Zénith to see Orelsan
On Sunday evening, traffic difficulties will be concentrated around the Zénith de Toulouse, where some 11,000 people are expected for the Orelsan concert event, which has been sold out for a long time.
The Zénith being located in the Cartoucherie district, near exits n°27 and n°29 of the inner ring road, it is possible to come there by car, since the Zénith has 2000 parking spaces. But beware ! “Access by car is difficult for high-traffic shows, and the number of parking spaces is limited. We encourage you to come by public transport, ”warns the Zénith de Toulouse.
How to come to the Zénith de Toulouse?
The T1 and T2 tram lines give you quick access to the Zénith Toulouse Métropole. Just get off at the Hippodrome or Zénith stations and follow the pedestrian path.
Line A of the metro provides access to the Zénith Toulouse Métropole. Just get off at Arènes station, about a 15-minute walk to the Zénith.
- If you are coming from outside Toulouse: consider the park and ride facilities!
Are you coming from outside Toulouse? Park and Ride (P+R) on the outskirts of the city are available to park your vehicle. The use of these car parks is reserved for users of the Tisséo network. To get out, simply use your valid transport ticket for less than an hour in the metro, tram or bus.
By VéloToulouse, stations n°245, n°9, n°236, N°226 are located less than 10 minutes on foot from the Zénith.
