Slovakia succeeded with Summer Trains in the competition for the largest European campaign in rail tourism – Tourism – Travel
The winner of the year of the competition for the best European campaign in the field of railway tourism Slovakia Travel and the Slovak Railway Company (ZSSK) belongs to the joint campaign Letné vlaky. The competition was organized by the European Tourism Commission (ETC) and Eurail, PR and media manager of the national organization for the promotion of tourism Travel Karolína Ducká informed.
The winner was selected by an expert jury composed of ETC and experts from the field of tourism, rail transport and marketing. According to them, the Summer Trains campaign promoted rail travel as a sustainable and ecological model of tourism.
The award was accepted at a gala dinner in Prague by Slovakia Travel CEO Václav Mika. “I am delighted that our efforts and work have brought results, right at the pan-European level. The connection of tourism with train transport is logical in Slovakia, our country is connected by railway from Humenné to Bratislava. We are an ideal country that you can visit right from the train seats,” stated Mika. According to him, tourism organizations also play a big role in the success of the campaign.
ETC President Luís Araújo noted that travel is needed for destinations, tourist boards and business entities within the movement to take advantage of the growing popularity of train travel and promote new routes through bold and inspiring campaigns.
“They did this year’s competition. I congratulate them on their creativity in bringing attention to train travel as a sustainable travel option,” he added.
ETC represents national tourism organizations in Europe. It was founded in 1948 and its mission is the long-term sustainable development of Europe as a tourist destination and the promotion of Europe in distant markets.
