Fabrizio Longo
He graduated in violin with full marks under the guidance of Luigi Fusconi at the “Arcangelo Corelli” Conservatory in Messina. He continued his studies with Santi Interdonato, Eliodoro Sollima and Georg Mönch, performing as a soloist in various formations.
After completing her humanistic studies at the University of Messina and passionate about philology in music, she followed courses and masterclasses relating to performance practice and playing technique taught by well-known teachers including, in particular, Enrico Gatti, with whom she studied continuously in the “Giuseppe Nicolini” conservatories of Piacenza and “Santa Cecilia” in Rome, and Luigi Rovighi, at the Philharmonic Academy of Bologna, from 2009 to 2016.
He has essays, articles, articles and critical editions relating to seventeenth and eighteenth century music for Di Nicolò Libri, SMSP, Walhall, Ut Orpheus, Arcana, Ambronay’s, Dramaturgias of Brasilia, Archivio storico Messina, ETS, Edizioni del conservatorio F. Cilea and Treccani , participating in study days, conferences and seminars including recent participations in Musicking, 17-24 April 2022, University of Oregon School of Music & Dance Eugene, Birmingham Baroque 2021, 18th biennal international conference on baroque music, Intersections : Between Music and Theater in Seicento Italy organized by the University of Cambridge and Cremona Baroque Music 2018; he has recorded for SMSP, Raidue, Raitre, Mediaset, MTV, Teatro di Messina, Radiotre, Radio Classic, Ambronay’s, Tactus, IBA Israeli radio.
He plays various instruments, including a Cremonese violin from the second half of the 18th century, including a Pierre Mansuy in its original condition from the mid-1700s. He uses various bows, in European and American woods, with fixed frog and screw, all copies of museum originals made by Marie-Eve Geeraert and an original from the first half of the 18th century.
With the “historically informed” violin he has participated in recordings and given concerts in many European cities, as a soloist and with various groups with original instruments, including: Baroque Orchestra of Bologna, Ensemble baroque de Nice, Cappella Mediterranea, Modo antico and was concertmaster and soloist of the Phoenix Ensemble of Tel Aviv, with whom he has performed in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Abu Gosh and other Israeli centres. Qualified to teach violin, he taught chamber music and violin at the “Giovanni Paisiello” Institute of High Culture in Taranto and collaborated with the “Arcangelo Corelli” conservatory in Messina, with the University of Bologna, with the international and music library and with the ancient music laboratory of the “Giovan Battista Martini” conservatory in Bologna.
Dominic Cerasani
He graduated in guitar in 2005, later perfecting himself at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover in the class of maestro Frank Bungarten, where he obtained the Diplom in 2010 with honors in interpretation. During this period he approaches the practice of ancient instruments, to which he subsequently dedicates himself exclusively. He obtained the II level specialization diploma in lute (cum laude) at the “F.Vittadini” Institute in Pavia under the guidance of Massimo Lonardi, working in particular on the repertoire of the secc. XVI and XVII, with a thesis on the Raimondi manuscript of Como. After following Hopkinson Smith in various masterclasses, he attended the Masters in chamber music for ancient instruments at the Trossingen Musikhochschule in the class of Rolf Lislevand, finishing the course with honors. He has attended the masterclasses of some of the most successful artists on the international scene, performing as a soloist and with various ensembles in numerous festivals and reviews in Italy and abroad. For several years he has also been involved in the teaching field, where he tries to give life to an ideal of teaching based on empathy between the teacher and the pupil. In 2011 he released his first solo work with works by Fernando Sor on the La Maggiore label. In 2014 for Tactus he published the album “Luca Marenzio e il tempo di lui” alongside the lute Massimo Lonardi and with the soprano Angela Alesci, an album for which he also edited the notes. In 2017 Brilliant Classics released his solo album dedicated to the Raimondi manuscript, followed by a disc entirely dedicated to Francis Cutting on the same label. Graduated in Classics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with honors, he combines his artistic activity with research, various articles by him have appeared in specialized magazines. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis dedicated to the guitar in the 17th century in Bologna at the University of Bern, he is a guitar and lute professor at the St. Gallen Musikschule.
