Racing Shows: Ferrari, BMW and KTM X-Bow in the spotlights during Interclassics Brussels
On Friday 18 November, the Interclassics opened its doors in Brussels Heysel. BMW, Ferrari and KTM X-Bow are in the spotlight this year. 75 years of Ferrari and 50 years of BMW M were the themes while KTM X-Bow met the GT XR as the fourth premiere. After two years of Corona misery, the organizers were able to record a visitor record on the lowest day of the first edition.

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Group 4 from 1972 of the Ecurie Francorchamps narrowly missed the podium, but not better. An absolute classic.
Ferrari, BMW, and KTM X-Bow in the spotlights during Interclassics Brussels
The organizers had gone to great lengths to bring together a fine collection of Ferraris. And with the unique history of the Ecurie Francorchamps, the focus was of course on the GT sport. Two absolute highlights were the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona of Derek Bell and Teddy Pilette from 1972. They missed out on the podium in the 5.0L GTS class. incidentally, the Top 5 in this class only from Ferraris.
Beautiful side view of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4
Another highlight of the Ecurie Francorchamps was the Ferrari 512 BB from 1978, which was used by the Ecurie Francorchamps for the combination “Beurlys”, Teddy Pilette and the Frenchman Raymond Touroul. The car was entered in the IMSA GTX class but retired after just five hours with gearbox problems. The Ferrari Monza SP2 was launched in 2018. We had already encountered the gray original version in the past. We have never seen the most beautiful blue version before.
Unfortunately, the IMSA GTX version had less success at Le Mans in 1978.
Shame that for most visitors and visiting fans he what stood together. In total, the organization had managed to bring together no less than 20 unique Ferrari models. The Brussels Autoworld already gave a preview of their provisional exhibition “Supercar 2 Road vs. Race Edition”, which will start on December 9th.
The 2019 Ferrari Omologata
At their stand we have the Ferrari Omologata from 2019 on. Public interest was mainly focused on the 288 GTO, Ferrari F40, Ferrari F50, Ferrari Enzo and the SP2. The cars are quite unique because the buyers were privately selected by the Ferrari company itself.
50 years of BMW M. The M1 was of course the showpiece in Jochen Neerpasch’s Procar series.
5O Year BMW M
BMW has always played an important role on the Belgian market. The success during the 24h of Francorchamps and the probable BMW M1 Procar race in support of the Belgian Grand Prix certainly contributed to this. The theme 50 years of BMW M applies here and the future M1 and M3 are definitely not missing from the exhibition.
The 1978 Schnitzer 320 Turbo where Harald Erl won the DRM title in 1978.
Hit by Harald Ertl’s Schnitzer BMW Group 5 E21 R-26 from 1978 in the stand opposite this exhibition. Qvick completely restored this Schnitzer BMW. Qvick has also built a number of replicas of this type. Qvick himself was active in Historic Motorsport last season with a 1978 “Rodenstock” Winkelhock version. The KTM GT XR presentation attracted a lot of attention.
Pure art at the Interclassics.
The Bentley Continental GT3 Art Car by Jean Boghossian that we described earlier this week was definitely worth seeing. Especially since this artist works with different types of torches for his abstract art. We have made a photographic impression of this exhibition that will run until Sunday.
Motorsport invites creativity and art
From 12 to 15 January, the following exhibition “Dutch Grand Prix Legends, the cars, the legends” will take place in the MECC in Maastricht. We cannot wait.
