Nice performance from Toulouse which brings down the leader
The Rennais started the match at a slow pace and the loss of balls did not really help them to make the difference against visitors who were far from being at their best level. However, the locals managed to take the advantage by suffering little room for maneuver to their opponents in defense (11-4 in the 6th). Still in a false rhythm, the Rennais lacked offensive impact while Toulouse reduced the gap with good outside shots and stronger defensive pressure (17-14 in the 8th). Far from their usual performance and far too lax on both sides of the field, the Rennais struggled to pack the game while the visitors remained in contact by applying themselves behind the arc with Dadiet and Mekdad (25-24 in the 15th) . Toulouse increased its defensive pressure and the loss of balls (16 in the first half) followed for the Rennais in the west. After the break, the rapid disqualification of Dadiet sanctioned for a bad gesture on Poncet-Leberre then on the ground had the merit of waking everyone up. But it was above all the people of Toulouse who proved to be dangerous by significantly accelerating the tempo. Somewhat destabilized by the decisions of the refereeing body which were too often incomprehensible, the two teams were unable to break free and Rennes locked themselves into a stereotyped game and struggled against increasingly incisive visitors with Mekdad and André (44-54 at the 27th). Despite the defensive aggressiveness of the TBC, the Rennais finally found a little rhythm to come back in the wake of their opponents (63-65 in the 35th). Toulouse kept its efficiency against Rennais who were going to rush at the end of the game without managing to take the best. Toulouse kept control until the final whistle inflicted on the Bretillians their second defeat of the season.
