In many countries, viewers will be able to follow the 2022 World Cup in 4K quality on their television screen. With us, on the other hand, it is still not topical… How to explain such a technological delay?

More and more Belgians have a so-called “4K”, “UHD” or “HDR” television in their living room. If you are going to the store to acquire a new device, it is a safe bet that you will succumb to the temptation of 4K, UHD or HDR as the prices have become more democratic in recent years. But before going any further, a few words of explanation: what is 4K, UHD or HDR? Simply put, these are the screen resolution and the quality of the image delivered to your screen. At the beginning of the 2000s, your screens were generally in SD quality. In early 2010, they moved to HD and FHD (1280 by 720 pixels). And now, we are therefore talking about 4K, UHD or HDR (3840 x 2160 pixels)… which therefore offer a quality four times better than HD. More and more content is also offered in 4K quality. Especially on Netflix, and the difference is obviously more than stunning…
