In Prague for the first time this winter, the spreaders came out to treat the roads with the first snow. The situation on Prague’s roads was calm this morning, the police did not notice any weather-related problems. This was told to ČTK by the spokesperson of the Technical Communications Administration Barbora Lišková and the Prague Police Jan Daněk.
The spreaders went out into the field already on Friday evening. First, from 6:00 p.m., they treated roads of the first order, then from 10:00 p.m. roads of the second and third order. According to Lišková, the maintenance continues even today.
“There is also a work shift in the field to clean the sidewalks, it started in the morning,” said a spokeswoman for ČTK. She added that it was the first outing of the Prague road workers in the current winter area.
The police in the capital recorded six traffic accidents from midnight to morning. It is not clear whether they were related to the weather. “We have no information that there would be any problem with traffic due to the weather,” said ČTK spokesman Daněk.
Not even the Prague transport company, according to information, on its own website meant no extraordinary restrictions this morning.
Roads and sidewalks in Prague are cleaned in several so-called orders. In the first, spreaders and plows will go out on the most important roads and sidewalks, especially in the vicinity of offices, hospitals, schools or railway stations and metro stations. It must be cleaned within two hours of departure. In the second order, road workers clean other second-class roads and in the third order the remaining ones.
