Zona Franca Vigo allies with Barcelona for green hydrogen
The Vigo Free Trade Zone and the Barcelona Free Trade Zone have joined forces in their strategy for green hydrogen and the delegate of the Vigo Consortium, David Regades, visited the green hydrogen plant installed in the Barcelona Free Trade Zone, which was up and running earlier this year. Regades was able to verify the operation of this type of facility, taking into account that the Vigo Free Trade Zone has a project underway with this energy, which will be awarded in mid-January.
As it stands out, “our hydrogen valley project in Bouzas is in its final phase to award project and work and will be operational by the end of 2024”. In total, thirteen companies have submitted seven proposals, both in joint ventures and individually. The budget is 7.3 million euros and the installation provides for the production of green hydrogen and will also cover the self-consumption of the companies installed in the Bouzas industrial estate. The project provides for a self-consumption photovoltaic installation that will be installed on the 15,000 square meters of the roofs of the warehouses of the Bouzas industrial estate in Zona Franca, as well as a hydrogen production, storage and dispensing plant (hydrogen), which will occupy 350 meters squares. The hydrogen produced is accelerated to power vehicle fleets. The Barcelona plant was born from a contract for the supply of hydrogen from renewable sources to the fleet of urban buses in Barcelona.
