It’s getting cold, wet and uncomfortable in the Hanover region: On Friday afternoon there will be dense clouds and rain or snow in large parts of Lower Saxony, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD). According to the weather portal kachelmannwetter.com, the first snow is already expected in the state capital in the afternoon or early evening. In the southwest of Lower Saxony, on the other hand, it is supposed to rain.
Slippery weather can occur at higher elevations in the country. The temperatures are two degrees in the Wendland and eight degrees on the Ems.
Snow falls in Lower Saxony on Saturday
Sleet or snow still falls in the south-west of Lower Saxony on Saturday night, then it loosens up from the north-east and the precipitation decreases. The lows are minus two degrees on the Ems and minus 7 degrees in the Wendland. On the islands it remains mostly frost-free at zero degrees.
Dry and cold air will move to Lower Saxony on Saturday. It will be a mostly sunny day with only a small risk of showers. The temperatures in the Upper Harz are minus one degree and on the North Sea around four degrees. In Hanover, the thermometer does not climb above freezing.
In the night of Sunday, cloudiness will cause rain and snow showers on the North Sea, in the south it will be slightly cloudy. The temperature on the coast is zero degrees, in the mountains it is minus seven degrees.
On Sunday there will be a mix of sun and clouds, with sleet and snow showers in the north. It will remain dry in the south, with sleet and snow only to be expected in the evening. The maximum values are between one degree along the Elbe and up to four degrees in southern Emsland.
