The barge remains stuck under the Riquet bridge of the Canal du Midi in Toulouse
A new episode for the barge Le Tenace. After having been since 2017, a municipal hall at the port of the Embouchure, it was sold at auction by the municipality. Bought by Flore Rafflegeau, the Tenace, now the Petit Nicolas (patron of boatmen) is moored at Port de l’Embouchure. Since Thursday, this barge had been blocked at the Toulouse Administrative Court.
“It was on my way to the Technical Port of Ramonville to leave the barge in the hold that we were unable to pass under the Riquet bridge, says Flore Rafflegeau, river professional. It was the pet peeve of the trip. Thanks to the Voies Navigables de France teams and multiple maneuvers, everything is resolved. This boat is a headache and yet I am in the sector”. VNF had to reduce the height of the water in the reach by a few centimeters. A recurring problem according to the Voies Navigables de France, especially when passing old structures (bridges) faced with problems of air draft (height between the structure and that of the boat). If Florence is relieved, she remains very upset: “I still don’t have a place on the Canal du Midi and its surroundings. And this despite my many requests. I am also regularly fined for bad parking”.
Will the barge become a restaurant?
Because this boatwoman has lots of ideas for Little Nicolas. “For the moment, I don’t know its fate but with such an environment, it could become a restaurant for example. It will all depend on the location. I am also open to all proposals because I consider that with all the money invested in this boat, Toulouse deserves to keep it”. She adds: “Nevertheless if in three years, nothing has progressed, I put it on a truck and I go elsewhere”. This situation made Toulouse react to Fil de l’Eau: “For the record: purchase of the barge by the territorial administration under the mandate of Pierre Cohen, then it sank at the Quai de la Daurade, then left for the Technical Port of Ramonville, becomes a municipal hall moored at Port de l’Embouchure. Finally back, head back to Port de Ramonville. Total bill for eight years? »
