Speaking Dutch in Brussels: learn it during ‘Allez:NL’
From rapping, to spraying graffiti and making radio: you can practice Dutch in the most creative ways. The House of Dutch in Brussels reliably thinks so. During a short week, on Thursday 24 November, they organized Allez:NL, an event for everyone who wants to learn Dutch in Brussels.
The event takes place all over Brussels. The inhabitants of Brussels then learn the Dutch language in a better controlled way through an interactive city game. More than fifty organizations are involved, each of which offers one or more activities.
Allez:NL is in its third edition this year. This year, 1,228 Brussels residents are taking part in the event. Creative activities are planned: from rapping, to spraying graffiti and making radio or theater. There are about 70 workshops in total.
The House of Dutch in Brussels organizes Allez:NL mainly because they want to remove language barriers in the city. “Not everyone always feels that they can use Dutch in Brussels,” concludes director Patrick Manghelinckx, “but they will discover a wide range and get to know organizations where they are more than welcome.”
Flemish minister of Brussels, Benjamin Dalle (CD&V) is also enthusiastic about the initiative. It is a day on which Dutch is celebrated as a connecting language and people can discover our rich Dutch-speaking network in all its colours.
The program starts on Thursday 24 November at 8.30 am in the Beursschouwburg with breakfast and a visit from Minister Dalle. Afterwards, the students move into the city. Registration for the event is no longer possible.
