Moscow hopes that the prospect of an agreement between Russia and the United States is growing, making demands on trade.
This is the first time US or public Russian officials have announced that it is Bout who could be part of the table. The United States has previously officially announced that it is ready to take part in an exchange of proposals in order to save the American basketball player Brittney Griner.
A basketball player who played for the Ural club UMMC was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport while waiting, not detained until the start of the war with Ukraine. Cartridges found containing medical marijuana.
Greiner was charged with drug smuggling. In court, she will pay that she will take these items with her and it does not matter if she intends to violate Russian laws. On August 4, the Khimki Court of the Moscow Region sentenced her to nine years in prison. The Moscow Regional Court did not commute the sentence. The day before, on November 19, it became known that the athlete was taken to serve her sentence in a colony in Mordovia.
There are at least two US citizens in the Russian colonies, especially about the exchange, which according to media reports, in Russia and in the United States of America. This is Greiner and former Marine Paul Whelan, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for shooting espionage.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said at the end of July that the United States was ready to discuss the issue of Griner and Whelan’s Russia. At the same time, the American media specify, citing their sources, that an exchange for Bout is being discussed. The Russian authorities are in Washington for the fact that he publicized the negotiation process.
“The Americans are showing heightened activity, we are working professionally through a special channel, by appointment,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov told reporters on Friday.
“So far, no common denominator has been reached, but it is indisputable that Viktor Bout is among those who are being discussed, and we certainly count on a positive result,” he said.
But, a former head of the Soviet Air Force, was extradited from Thailand to the US in 2010 following a US drug enforcement operation (DEA). The story of his life is at the heart of a Hollywood movie.
But got 25 years of existence after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to fight terrorism and in front of the US, delivering anti-aircraft missiles and aiding Michael Order. CNN reported that Washington was offering to trade the Greiner and Whelan basketball player for Booth’s negative influence in the US. The Russian Foreign Ministry said at the time that “questions of mutual exchange” were being handled by “competent departments,” but “a concrete result had not yet been achieved.”
Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova said that Deputy Minister Ryabkov did this, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there was no agreement yet on discussing Bout on Whelan and Greiner.
The last exchange between the US and exports is at the end of April this year. Then the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was set up in the United States for 20 years of security, was exchanged for the American Trevor Reid, who received a summer colony in Russia for a fight with policemen. The exchange took place on April 27 “as a result of the aggravation of the negotiation process,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Bout’s defense used all legal mechanisms in the United States to seize it, at the moment the way out for the Russian is either an exchange or extradition to Russia for the departure of a copy, his wife Alla Bout told reporters in November.
