Brennan Othmann comes first with Petes, Henrik Lundqvist is Sweden’s greatest goalkeeper, and more
New York Rangers top prospect Brennan Othmann was traded of the Flint Firebirds to the Peterborough Petes last week.
The talented forward has now acclimatised himself to the Petes and their fans by scoring a beautiful goal in his second game.
Othmann, 19, has 12 goals and 25 points in 18 games on 90 shots this season. Last year, he took a big step forward by registering 50 goals and 97 points in 66 games for the Firebirds.
“My focus is on the team’s goals and I want to win a championship. That’s what I set out to do when I was 16, said Othmann at his intropressor. “For me, it’s about learning to be a professional and I want to play in the NHL next year. Right now I’m a Pete and the goal is to win a championship and a Memorial Cup.”

Othmann recorded his first point and goal as a member of the Peterborough Petes in their win Thursday night against the Oshawa Generals.
The tally came late in the second period with the Petes on a two-man advantage. Othmann worked a give-and-go, then broke in alone on the Generals’ keeper to tuck it home.
He finished the competition with 5 shots on goal and 2 penalty minutes.
Henrik Lundqvist named Sweden’s greatest goalkeeper
It was a celebration for the ages as Sweden celebrated its rich hockey history in a star-studded event.
Former New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was named the greatest goalie to ever come from Sweden. Forwards Peter Forsberg, Mats Sundin and Håkan Loob were also honored, along with defenders Nicklas Lidström and Börje Salming.
Conny Evensson was named the greatest Swedish coach.
“It was named night,” Lundqvist wrote on his IG story. “Fun to see so many legends in Swedish hockey. I was honored to receive the goalkeeper of the century award and the all star team.”
