Berlin (dpa / bb) – The Eisbären Berlin suffered another setback in the first game after the Germany Cup break in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). On Friday evening, the German champions lost 2:4 (0:2, 1:1, 1:1) against the Iserlohn Roosters and suffered their sixth home defeat of the current season. Kevin Clark and Julian Melchiori scored for the capitals, who made a lot of mistakes, especially on the defensive.
In front of 10,138 spectators in the arena at the Ostbahnhof, the hosts determined the early minutes, but the guests immediately used their first push to take the lead: Former Eisbären professional Kris Foucault scored after a carelessness by the Berlin back line. Ryan O’Connor punished another defensive error by the capital city before the first break with the second Iserlohn goal.
After the restart, Kaspars Daugavins extended the guests’ lead before Clark converted one of the numerous goal chances of the Berliners. In the final section, the polar bears increased the pressure and were allowed to regain hope after Melchiori’s goal, before Casey Bailey made the decision for the guests in the Sauerland’s first power play.
