BRNO

Battle of the best on Sunday morning, Lovosice is heading to Pilsen! – Czech Handball Association

Sugar Mizzy November 18, 2022

Both Dukla and Brno want to get back on the winning streak

Until recently, Prague Dukla ran like a well-oiled machine. But then came two matches in which she stumbled. And specifically in the last duel with Lovci, and before that with Kopřivnica. The team is now seventh in the table with thirteen points, but will definitely try to get back on the winning streak and swing much higher. Goalkeeper Tomáš Petržala, who has the second highest number of saves (138) and the second highest save success rate (42%), can help the people of Prague.

Brno lost its form. It lost three times in a row and only drew the last time. An economical handball was played in Nové Veselí, which ended with an unusual result of 19:19. The Brno team dropped to ninth place in the table and currently have eleven points on their account. The support of the team is clearly Martin Kocich, by far the best scorer in the extra league, who already has 95 goals to his credit.

Jiří Dokoupil, pivot of HC Dukla Prague: “After the unsuccessful match with Lovosice, we clearly want to return to the winning streak at home. The Brno team relies mainly on the performances of Martin Kocich, who is playing well, and we will have to be careful about him.”

Karviná needs to start, Strakonice is against it

Magpies are not having the worst of times in recent weeks. After a long series of losses, they managed to beat two teams from the lower levels of the table, Hranice, and most recently Maloměřice. Both the Brno and Hranicky teams lost by two goals in the south of Bohemia. The rookie of the competition thus operates in twelfth place with seven points, and has a game to spare on both teams below him.

Karviné is currently not working. Although he is in third position, he already has a big loss to the leader from Lovosice and to the second Plzeň. Miner scored eighteen points, which is four less than Talent, and even six more than Hunters. In the last three games, he scored only once, in a 34:34 draw in Prešov. Baník is missing goalkeeper Petr Mokroš, who is currently injured. On the other hand, the team can rely on the third best scorer in the league, Jonáš Patzel, who has already scored 72 times.

Zubří will correct the failure in Hranice in Jičín

After three wins in a row, when Jičín defeated Strakonice, Brno and Hranice, it was the turn of a tougher opponent, home team Frýdek-Místek. He was already beyond his strength and lost by six goals on the scoreboard of the Moravian-Silesian city of Jičín. He is thus in the tenth position in the table with ten points. But he has a game less than most of the league. Jiří Dolejší, who has already scored 66 times, is in great form in his colors.

The Zubří performances are a big question mark this year. Things are going well at home, the team from the Zlín region also beat Pilsen. However, he has not won on the opponent’s boards yet, the last time he only drew in Hranice. Rob’s away performances are definitely disappointing and drag the team down. Zubří is in sixth position with fifteen points, but also only twelve duels so far. Now another trip awaits him, namely to Jičín. Will the Wallachian team, weakened by the marod, finally be able to break the outdoor curse? Not only Dušan Palát, who belongs to the top ten scorers of the competition with 63 goals, will strive for it.

Peter Dávid, coach of HC ROBE Zubří: “It will be a very difficult match in Jičín. We are still troubled by a large number of wounded. Jičín is very strong at home. They need a body for a chance at the playoffs, we need a body from outside. We have a lot of big problems on our opponents’ pitches and hopefully we will mobilize. We would need to establish ourselves outside. I’d love for us to win. But the reality is that we improvise a lot and glue it. We will do our best to win and I hope that it will finally be possible.”

Will Kopřivnice stop the Prešov series?

Prešov is doing very well in the last rounds. The Slovak national team scored five times in a row and won four of them. This moved him to the fourth position in the table, where he now has sixteen points and also a game to spare. The last time on his scoreboard came from Karviná, which he saved in the last seconds to a draw 34:34. Now at home, he will take advantage of another extension of the points streak, and maybe even another move up the table.

Hives rises efficiently. At home two rounds ago, it surprised Dukla, which it defeated 35:30. However, it also lost to Pilsen in the last match by the same score. After thirteen matches, he has ten points in the last and is only eleventh. In the offensive, the team relies on Pavel Musálek, who managed to send the ball behind the opponent already 65 times.

Radoslav Antl, coach of TATRAN Prešov: “We won against them, but that was only the first part of the season. I remember exactly that at that time Kopřivnice was winning 17:16. After changing our defense to 1-2-3, the whole match again. It will be very difficult, the boys are getting tired, they lack energy, strength, speed, explosiveness, you can see that in those legs. Karviná was twice as fast in the previous match. It’s going to be hard.

Oliver Rábek, TATRAN Prešov player: “Kopřivnice is a young team, be sure to watch the match with Karvina. He will run with us, he will fight, he will not just come here. We have one day, we will look at the first match we played there. We only have one day for tactics, regeneration and everything else, so maybe there will be some fatigue after such a tough match with Karvina, but hopefully we can make it.”

Will Pilsen reach the top, or will the Hunters increase the top in the round?

After the loss in Zubří, the West Bohemians are back on a winning streak. They have won three times in a row and after twelve games have already reached 22 points. In addition, they have a game to spare against Lovosice, so if they win, they could overtake in the playoffs. Pilsen has a great score, scoring 105 more goals than they conceded (415:310). In addition, Filip Herajt is operating in goal, having already made 112 saves.

The hunters continue their beauty ride. They haven’t lost since the opening round, when they lost to Pilsen! Since then, they have been on an incredible 12-game winning streak. At the end they have 24 points. The team offensive is very strong, the Hunters scored the most goals and they have three scorers in the top twelve, namely Jaroslav Trkovský (73 goals), Tim Bogdanić (67 goals) and Pavel Chotěborský (59 goals).

The first duel ended with a great shootout and a 38:32 victory for Talent. The battle of two teams with the greatest form starts on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the west of Bohemia.

Martin Hríb, coach of HK FCC City of Lovosice: “The matches continue at a fast pace and we have a duel in which we will not be the favorite after a long time. Since the beginning of the season, Pilsen has confirmed that it has an experienced team. Already in the first round on our board, they proved that they can play patient handball, and even under pressure they do not make mistakes that could be punished. We are going to Pilsen after a well managed match in Prague and we want to try to return the defeat from the first round to our opponent. We will try to learn from it at the same time, we didn’t play completely badly, but Plzeň was able to punish our every mistake and avoid mistakes at the same time. To be successful, we need a tough defense and effective conversion of the chances we create.”

Sunday’s program will conclude with a duel between Nové Veselí and Frýdek-Místek

Nové Veselí is in eighth position, guaranteeing progress to the playoffs. The team achieved eleven points in thirteen games, the last time they scored a point for a home draw with Brno. It is Brno that is closest to him in the league, the teams have the same number of points, only the difference in the score separates them. The best scorer of the team from the smallest city of Chance Extraliga is Jakub Flajsar, who scored 62 goals. Vít Schams, on the other hand, made 108 saves in goal.

Frýdek-Místek returned to a winning streak after a brief out of form. They beat Královo Pole by six goals, beat Jičín by the same margin at home, even though they let it become a lot more dramatic in the second half of the game. Daniel Val’s men are fifth in the league with sixteen points after thirteen duels. They are behind Prešov only by a score. They rely a lot on the great performances of Mathias Choleva, who already has 67 successful hits at the end. Vít Pyško keeps them in goal with 102 saves.
