Portugal wins 12 World Tourism “Oscars” – Marketeer
At the beginning of October, Portugal received 30 distinctions in the European round of the World Travel Awards, including the title of “Best European Destination”. Now, in the world round of the “Oscars” of Tourism, as they are also known, the country collected 12 more awards.
At the 29th Edition of the World Travel Awards, Porto was considered the “Best City Destination” in the world, Lisbon won the title of “Best Metropolitan Seaside Destination” and Madeira took first place in the category “ Best Island Destination”. TAP won two distinctions, namely “Best Airline for Africa” and “Best Airline for South America”.
At a gala that took place in Oman, there were four distinct national hotels and hotel chains: Amazing Evolution (“Best Boutique Hotel Operator”); Dunas Douradas Beach Club (“Best Golf & Villa Resort”); Olissipo Lapa Palace Hotel (“Best Classic Hotel”); and Pestana Palace Hotel (“Best Business Luxury Hotel”).
In the projects and activities segment, Dark Sky Alqueva was awarded the “Best Responsible Tourism Project”, Passadiços do Paiva won the award for “Best Adventure Tourism Attraction” and the Parks of Sintra – Monte da Lua were considered “Best Conservation Company”.
The World Travel Awards have been awarded by professionals in the sector since 1993, distinguishing the work carried out in the tourism industry, in order to stimulate the competitiveness and quality of tourism.
