King, Queen of Sweden visit Za’atari refugee camp…
AMMAN — King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden and Princess Rym Ali, the escort of honor, visited on Thursday the Za’atari camp for Syrian refugees, to check the conditions of the camp and the services provided by the Kingdom and the organizations operating in the temporary facility, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Attorney General charged the eight people with the crime of rioting, causing damage and sabotage at sports facilities, in accordance with the provisions of Article 467/2 of the Jordanian Penal Code.
During their tour, Their Majesties were briefed by the camp’s administration, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), UNICEF and the World Food Program (WFP) on the services provided to refugees, particularly in the areas of education and food.
Their Majesties and the accompanying delegation also visited the Hind Bint Amr School to learn about the educational services provided to the camp’s children.
The school administration highlighted the progress in the teaching process, as the students talked about their future ambitions.
In addition, Their Majesties toured the camp’s community center to learn about the social services UNHCR and other organizations provide to Syrian refugees.
Their majesties listened to one of the Syrian refugee families about the refugees’ main needs and difficulties they face.
At the end of his tour, His Majesty met with a refugee student studying at a private university and expressed his admiration for her excellence.
