“Experts do not dispute that there will be a major power outage in Europe at some point. In the state of Carinthia, we rely on the best possible preparation for emergencies and on education. Those who know what can happen are armed and can do a lot themselves contribute to a smooth course,” explains the provincial councillor.
The Blackout List – are you prepared?
If no light, no mobile phone, no Internet, no heating, no ATM, no gas station, no traffic lights, no elevator, no water pipe and no refrigerator works, preparation is the be-all and end-all. In an emergency, it is important to keep calm, help each other and be careful with open fire in your own four walls when cooking (hence fire extinguishers!). You should also be economical with your resources and don’t drive your car or turn on your radio unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Prevention is better than cure, according to Landesrat Fellner. So he will bring the topic of blackout closer to the population without stirring up fear. “Because good preparation is – as so often in life – a great relief for all opportunities if the worst comes to the worst,” said the SP politician.
